This Shit is on the Move

Thanks to Engadget, yours truly has been acquainted with Indipod, a revolutionary sanitary system for people on the go. In other words, a toilet, enclosed in a private, plastic bubble, perfect for the commuter who would rather not drive with their eyes crossed.

All it takes is four simple steps. First, make sure you pack the device. Then, unzip it. Plug it in to your car’s 12V power socket, and watch it inflate. A private, spacious bubble envelopes the plastic commode, allowing you generous room to take care of business without worrying about passers-by peeking at your tackle.

Once done, chemicals break down the waste materials to ensure it always has a ‘fresh, clean smell’ and emptying is as simple as pouring it into another toilet, and flushing. Up to 8 people can use the toilet in a single day… how it stays ‘fresh and clean’ is beyond my comprehension.

The makers have posted a rather humourous FAQ page about the benefits of their portable commode. It’s worth the read. Just make sure you don’t hit too large of a bump while driving — it could get messy!

And who knows? The next giant leap in portable sanitation technology could see this built-in to your car’s seat. Whodathunkit?
