It’s been almost 4 weeks since I last posted. Yikes! Contrary to popular belief, I am still committed to posting things to my web site. Contrary to personal desire, my job kills that committment constantly.

Things at work have been very exciting, what with the forthcoming acquisition of a new Xserve G5, massive Exabyte tape library, Microsoft EA agreements for agency-wide copies of Office 2004 and VirtualPC (and Windows XP, Office 2003, Server 2003, Exchange, et al for the PCs), and, last but certainly not least, the decision to go OS X throughout the agency. Moreover, we’re investigating a new e-mail system, phone system (VoIP, baby!), upgrades to existing servers, Active Directory vs. Open Directory, help desk call consolidation, VPN overhauls, and much, much more. This is why I get paid the big bucks!

At home, my new Aastra VentureIP telephone system arrived and is currently being installed. It has lots and lots of bugs (the software is only Release 1.0), but hopefully those will be squashed in time and after a number of support calls and feature requests from yours truly.

Other than that, all is pretty much quiet. My posting frequency should pick up again soon, once many of these projects start moving from conception to execution, and then on to completion.
