Attention: Deficit Disorder

As if $200 billion wasn’t enough to make a Mess-O’Potamia (get it?), the Shrub and his cronies are now asking for $85 billion more. Add that to the earmarked $25 billion approved over the summer and the illegal invasion of Iraq is now going to total over $300 billion.

Senator Barbara Boxer (D, CA) put it best:

What is it going to be used for? Does it incorporate into the $80 billion some type of an exit strategy?

Factoring in the additional military spending, the White House announced the Federal Deficit will total $427 billion in 2005. What gets me, though, is that the $105 billion is double the budget for the Department of Education, and two-and-a-half times more than the Department of Homeland Security. Both departments were key in helping get Bushy re-elected. And now, they’re neglected. There’s a surprise.

Oh, and when asked, no one in the White House could say how they plan on spending it. Only that they will, of course, be spending it.
