I’ve had so much on my plate recently. It’s been difficult to make time for anything personal. But, I’m managing bit by bit. Unfortunately, the blog is suffering from a bit of neglect for the time being. Things should quiet down soon, however. At that point, I’ll try to pick up the pace once again. (Or, just hit ‘Delete’.)

Work at AKQA has been nothing short of amazing. Since I’ve joined we’ve been named Digital Agency of the Year twice, one of Fast Company’s 50 Most Innovative Companies, and received a whole host of other awards. Plus, we’re growing and now working to adopt a variety of cutting-edge technologies. The DC office has a healthy stream of work in progress and upcoming, and it’s my job to ensure our front- and back-end system keep pace. It keeps me on my toes and has allowed me to use so many areas of my expertise on so many different levels. For the first time in a long time I can easily say I enjoy waking up and going to work.

On the personal side, we’ve decided to move to a larger apartment. We’re actually staying in our same building but heading upstairs to a much roomier loft. It’s two full stories, and even has a den I look forward to making my home office. Sam will be upstairs, along with our new game room with all our consoles. Coincidentally, the unit has a nice view of Bethesda (and a wee bit of DC in the distance) so I look forward to re-launching my webcam at some point soon. For the first time, it’ll be broadcasting out of my home and not my office, since I’ve got a much better view from here.

Oh, and of course I picked up a snazzy new iPhone 3G. Twice as fast. Half the battery life.

So… with that itty-bitty update, it’s back to doing what I do best. More entries to come. I promise! In the mean time, check out Squidder. Squidder is a blog my AKQA DC colleagues have conjured up to talk about all things Flash, Web 2.0, and so on. Even though they’re just as busy as I am, they somehow manage to update it. I must be doing something wrong. Hmm.
