Arrested For Paying With $2 Bills
As if I needed another reason to not shop at Best Buy, or needed a great feature to inaugurate my new Natural Stupidity category, Best Buy has yet again delivered on their blatantly poor management and disregard for consumer satisfaction. I hope that this man sues Best Buy, the police department, and anyone else he can under the jurisdiction of the law. Not only was the store in the wrong, the police department abused their authority and took the situation way too far. Any form of US currency is legal tender for all debts, public or private, and Best Buy would have to accept it — even if this gentleman spilled out 114,000 pennies onto the cashier’s station.
From Gizmodo:
Best Buy Has Customer Arrested For Using $2 Bills
A Baltimore man tried to pay for a Best Buy car stereo installation with $2 bills—and was arrested. Apparently the man was already upset with Best Buy’s service, so thought he’d stage a minor protest by using the uncommon currency:
He remembers the cashier marking each bill with a pen. Then other store personnel began to gather, a few of them asking, “Are these real?”
